CRIME PREVENTION ASSESSMENT OF PONSONBY:

The Development Committee has approved a strategic approach for a $500,000 security grant, that involves a security needs assessment and implementation over a two year period, which will allow all 17 mainstreets and business improvement districts to improve safety provisions in their business areas This will ensure that preventative action can be recognised and implemented before security issues escalate.

The Ponsonby Business Association in conjunction with Auckland City Council is carrying out this assessment which will be project managed by Sarah Bartlett of Praxxis Group. The assessment will look at safe design (CPTED), lighting and security aspects of the town centre to determine any crime/anti-social behaviour problems and identify strategies to address these with a focus on reducing crime opportunity.  Hearing from the business people - their experiences and views is an important part of the assessment, so businesses have been invited to complete a detailed survey. Once we receive results from this we will up date you on its’ progress and potential actions.
